Reflection 8/28

 In class today we started reading a story called The Rockpile. So far in the story, the rockpile is a dangerous place where boys fight. A boy named Richard drowned in the river where they swim in the summer. Roy and John sit at the fire escape and knew they weren’t allowed down at the rockpile. Roy saw some of his friends and decided to go. He ended up getting hit with a van and got injured. The mother and John were both afraid of the father who is a pastor which is why the mother hopes the scare doesn’t stay. This story is interesting to me and I look forward to reading it tomorrow.

 In class we took an Assessment on the the story The yellow wallpaper. After taking the assessment we went over the answers and received the opportunity to explain why we chose certain answers and where we went wrong. Originally I received a 7 out of 10 but during the review of the answers I got the chance to explain one of my answers. I was able to explain to explain my thought process which allowed me to  received credit which would put my score as an 80. I really appreciated this opportunity and this made me feel better because an 80 is much better than a 70.

 In class today we read the rest of Act one Scene 4. We learned about Troy’s past and how he was in Jail for 15 years because she killed someone while trying to rob them. Because of what we learned about Troy’s father, we can infer that he is similar to his father in certain ways. Troy told Cory’s football coach that he can’t play football and Cory got upset. Troy told Cory to watch it and not to “strike out” which means that like Troy, Cory may get kicked out the house. Today was a good reading and I was entertained while reading about Troy’s past.

 In class we read pages in the book and we found quotes. We would find the theme, topic, conflict as well as analyze the quote. I enjoyed doing thing because it helped me further comprehend what I was reading
