 Today in class we took a common assessment on the story we read. This story was Antojos by Julia Alvarez. I think I did ok on this test. I received at 89 out of 100. I feel as though if this story was more interesting and attention grabbing, I would have payed more attention while reading. This would have allowed me to get a better score. I am ok with my score and will try to pay more attention when reading on my own. 

 I knew our friendship was over when they stopped caring. I knew they stopped caring when they stopped trying. I knew they stopped trying when they stopped responding. I knew they stopped responding when they stopped reaching out. I knew they stopped reaching out when I stopped responding. They stopped responding when I stopped reaching out. They stopped reaching out  when I stopped trying. We knew our friendship was over when we stopped caring. 

 Dear mello,  I sincerely apologize for what I did to you. I know I can never take it back and I know I hurt you. I really did consider you my best friend. We had so many good times together and I miss that. I miss you as my friend and I would change what happened if I could. I let my feelings blind my judgement and I didn’t think about how it could affect you and I’m sorry. You will always be in my heart.  I’m sorry,  Leia 

 Dear Ms. King,  Thank you for everything you’ve ever done for me. You practically raised me and made me into the person I am today. I look up to you so much and I miss coming to your house everyday after school. I miss the sleepovers we would have at your house. I also miss our summers with you and our Halloween days. When I think about my childhood I think about you. I wish I appreciated the time we spent together more and I will put in an effort to see you more often.  Love,  Leia.

 Today in class we presented our work to the class on the story we read called antojos. I had the word wizard. Some words I didn’t get to present were Doña. This work is a Spanish title to address a Mrs or madam as respect. Jose’s grandmother refers to Yolanda to show respect. Another word I chose was enunciated. This word means to pronounce and was used when the tall man shouted “directo” while holding his machetes. 

 In class we began reading a story called Antojos my Julia Alvarez. I read about 2 pages of this book and wasn’t very interested. I felt like it was hard to stay focus maybe because it didn’t catch my attention. From what I did read, the main character was Yolanda and she was going back to her home country. She aunts had made fun of her for not knowing the word Antojo which could have indicated that she may have been losing her Spanish.

 In the video the woman explained that a viral video was going around of a woman being shouted at. The statements were stereotypes and the people in the back were agreeing with the statements.The number of Latinas in American is contently growing and should have a say in America. The foods are Latin america has been brought to America and plays an important role in America. We should learn more about the experience of Latinas and Latinos. This is to avoid misconception. I enjoyed listening to this ted talk and learned so much about these misconceptions and how to resolve them. 

 in class we presented out power points to the class and took notes on others countries. I learned more about Columbia and how the majority of the religion is Catholic. I enjoyed learning more about Latin Culture and celebrations. I look forward to learning more.

 I’m class we continued the PowerPoints on our given country. One thing I learned about is that Easter is a big holiday with big celebrations all over this country. I learned more about its customs and music. A fun fact I learned is that it’s nickname is the banana republic. 

 In class we are learning about Hispanic culture. To start, we were given a country to make a PowerPoint on. I was given the country Honduras. We worked on this PowerPoint for the duration of class. I had fun learning more about this country and it’s culture.

 In class today, we prepped for our literary essay that we will be completing in class tomorrow. I chose prompt 3 about rose and her gift. I believe Roses gift is that she is very caring but sometimes she can care so much about others that she forgets to care about herself and never asks herself what does she want or need.
